This is a particularly attractive destination for
travelers interested in enjoying the lavish Cuban
nature. Located at the western end of the island,
it possesses the unique gift of a territory which
covers two areas declared World Biosphere Re-
serves by UNESCO: The Sierra del Rosario and
Guanahacabibes Peninsula. Many consider it
Cuba´s Nature Cathedral and identify it as the
land where farmers grow the best black toacco
in the world . This place also treasures large de-
posits of medicinal mineral waters.

Destino particularmente atractivo para el viaje-
ro interesado en disfrutar de la pródiga natura-
leza cubana. Ubicada en el extremo occiden-
tal de la isla posee el exclusivo don de abarcar
en su territorio dos áreas declaradas por la
UNESCO Reservas Mundiales de la Biosfera:
La Sierra del Rosario y la Península de Guana-
hacabibes. Muchos la consideran la catedral
natural de Cuba y la identifican por ser la tierra
donde se cosecha el mejor tabaco negro del
mundo. Este lugar atesora importantes yaci-
mientos de aguas minero-medicinales.

Esta provincia tiene un don exclusivo: ser la tierra del descubrimiento.
En Cayo Bariay, un conjunto monumental recuerda que fue allí, el 27
de octubre de 1492, donde pisó por primera vez tierras del Nuevo
Mundo el almirante Cristóbal Colón. Su capital, de igual nombre, es
llamada también la ciudad de los Parques; tiene una fuerte influencia
hispánica, y la distingue el recto trazado de sus calles. El quehacer
cultural allí es intenso, particularmente los meses de mayo y octubre,
cuando tienen lugar las Romerías de Mayo y la Fiesta de la Cultura
Iberoamericana, respectivamente. A lo largo de más de 40 kilómetros
de costas, Holguín cuenta con 41 playas.

Key Bariay, a monumental body recalls that it was there, on Octo-
ber 27, 1492, where Christopher Columbus first set foot in the New
World. Its capital holding the same name, is also called the city of
parks. It has a strong Spanish influence and it is unique because of
the straight layout of its streets. Their cultural activities are intense,
particularly between May and October, first with pilgrimages and
religious celebrations and later in the year with the Latin American
Culture Festival. Throughout more than 25 miles of coastline, Hol-
guín has 41 beaches.
