roveniente de Mallorca, España, José Tobal es un pintor y fotógrafo
reconocido, que pese a su edad, cuenta con una vasta experiencia
en el ámbito mundial. Y sobre esto

platicó con él.
“Todo mi arte es autodidacta”, comentó Tobal, quien en su trayectoria
de 20 años ha viajado por los cinco continentes, teniendo presencia en
Israel, Nueva York, Madrid, Barcelona, Bruselas o China, y quien comen-
zó por hacer pintura; “era más espontáneo —dijo—, pero conforme se
va subiendo de nivel, el coleccionista pide más calidad”, aseguró.
A esta época, le siguió la incursión en el arte abstracto, para después
dedicarse por algún tiempo a la fotografía.
Además, el artista español manifestó su descontento con las galerías
de arte, pues, según su percepción, fomentan la pérdida del vínculo
entre el coleccionista y el artista, lo que es de suma importancia para él.
Actualmente, José Tobal se encuentra en México por un periodo de
tres meses, con planes diversos como la creación de la Fundación
José Tobal, que ya es una realidad. “Dicha fundación contará con una
muestra permanente, para posteriormente hacer proyectos en pro de
la ayuda a artistas que no tienen recursos, apoyo, suerte o contac-
tos, desperdiciando su talento”, manifestó. Y aseveró que ya tienen
varios benefactores interesados en apoyarlo. “Queremos crear cursos,
talleres, decirles cómo empezar, cómo moverse por el medio para ser
autosuficientes, queremos dejar nuestra huella permanente”, finalizó.

romMallorca, Spain, José Tobal is a renowned painter and photo-
grapher, who despite his age, has extensive experience in the global arena.
In an interview with
Protocolo
, Tobal said “all my art is self-
taught,” and underlined that he traveled for 20 years to all five
continents, and today has a presence in Israel, New York, Madrid,
Barcelona, Brussels and China. He began painting because it “was
more spontaneous”, nevertheless as the level grew, the collector deman-
ded for more and better quality”, “he added.
After that time, he began experimenting with abstract art and then devo-
ted some time to photography. In addition, the Spanish artist expressed
his discontent with art galleries, because according to his perception, they
encourage the loss of that link between the collector and the artist, which
is of paramount importance to him.
Currently, José Tobal is in México for a period of three months, with va-
rious plans like creating the José Tobal Foundation, which is already a
reality. “This foundation will have a permanent exhibition, and later on
it will work on projects to help artists who lack resources, support, luck or
contacts and thus wasting their talent.” He said they already have several
benefactors interested in supporting it. “We want to create courses and
workshops and teach them how to get started, how to move around the
proper channels so they can become self-sufficient. We want to leave our
imprint permanently,” he concluded.
