tuvo oportunidad de platicar con uno de los artistas que
más ha contribuido a su presencia, el pintor cubano Luis Miguel Valdés
Morales, que actualmente vive en Cuernavaca y lleva 21 años en Méxi-
co, cuenta con un taller de grabado llamado La Siempre Habana.
“Llegué a México el 23 de marzo de 1991, venía por seis meses y me
fui quedando”, dijo Valdés Morales, quien estudió en la Escuela Na-
cional de Artes (ENA) en Cubanacán, Cuba, que este año cumple 50
años de haber sido fundada; “fue por donde pasaron prácticamente
todos los artistas de mi generación que ahora son los más valiosos del
momento, no sólo en pintura, sino en danza, música y teatro, discipli-
nas que se estudian en lo que hoy es el Instituto Superior de Arte, del
cual fui fundador en el año 1976”, contó.

he artistic contribution of Cuba to Mexico has reached high levels.
Protocolo had the opportunity to chat with one of the most outstan-
ding paintors, the Cuban Luis Miguel Valdés Morales. Currently living
in Cuernavaca, he has resided in México for 21 years. Today he owns a
engraving studio called The Havana Forever.
“I arrived in Mexico on March 23, 1991. I was only coming for six
months and I just kept staying”, said Valdes Morales, who studied at
the National School of Arts (ENA) in Cubanacán, Cuba, which this
year celebrates 50 years of its founding. Almost all the artists of my
generation who are today the most valuable of the moment, spent
their time at the ENA, studyng not only painting but dance, music
and theater disciplines in what is now the Art Institute, founded in
1976”, he added.
