La compra de un mastógrafo es también una de las
prioridadesdelVoluntariado.Sucostoesdecuatromillones
390milpesos.“Se tratade tecnologíadepuntayelbeneficio
consisteenque laspersonasquesepracticanestudioscon
esteequipo recibenconsiderablementemenos radiaciones
que con otros mastógrafos, además de que esta nueva
tecnología esmás precisa y permite ser más eficientes en
tiempos. La importancia de su compra también radica en
que si un paciente requiere practicarse una mastografía
preventiva o de control tardan hasta seismeses en darles
lacita yesprecisamentepor estacausaque todos losque
integramos el Voluntariado nos propusimos la compra de
este equipo, también fue algoquemi esposo yame había
externadoque senecesitaba.”
Para la compra de este mastógrafo Carolina Silva co-
mentóquehan enviado cartas a varias fundaciones solic-
itandodonativos. “Estamosbuscandopor diversas vías la
recaudación de fondos.”
La oficina del Voluntariado del hospital está ubicada en
el número 404 B del Hospital General de México, lugar
desde donde el grupo de voluntarios comandados por
CarolinaSilva seesfuerzanpara, por diversas vías, recau-
dar recursos para el hospital.
“Nuestroobjetivo es apoyar a los pacientes demás bajos
recursos. Lo logramos a través de recibir donativos de
ropa enbuen estado y limpia, la cual después vendemos.
Una vez al mes cada voluntaria trae un pastel y éstos se
venden. Tenemos en comodato el manejo de la cafetería
del hospital, por lo cual recibimos una rentamensual. Or-
ganizamos un bazar de Navidad. Recaudamos fondos a
través de la venta de boletos de una obra de teatro de la
actriz Susana Alexander, quien amablemente nos ayudó.
Organizamos rifas con objetos de arte y otras cosas que
nos donan, entre otrasmúltiples actividades.”

de México para poder tener más recursos. Para mí, el
estar aquí es una gracia y más después del trasplante
de riñón al queme sometí, veo la vida de otra forma ymi
labor al frentedel Voluntariadome tienecompletapueses
una forma de pagar loqueDiosme ha dado.”

Topurchase thismastographCarolinaSilva said theyhave sent letters re-
questing donations to various foundations asking for contributions. "We
are looking through diverse forms of fundraising."
The hospital's VolunteerOffice is locatedat number 404B of theGeneral
Hospital of Mexico, from where the volunteer’s group led by Carolina
Silva strives for, in various ways, to raise the resources for the hospital.
"Our goal is to support low-income patients. We accomplish this by re-
ceiving donations such as clothing clean and in good condition which
we later sell. Once a month each volunteer brings a cake and they are
sold.We have a contract for the administration of the hospital’s cafeteria,
for which we received amonthly income. We also organize a Christmas
Bazaar.We raise funds through the sale of tickets for attending a theater
play, for instance one performed by actress SusanAlexander, who kindly
helped us. We organize raffles with art objects and other things are do-
nated to us amongmany other activities.
"Many people and companies have oneway or another contributed to the
GeneralHospital ofMexico’sVolunteering in order to getmore resources.
Forme, being here is a blessing and somuchmore after the kidney trans-
plant I went through. I see life differently and my work as head of the
volunteer’s group has mademe a complete human being, because it is a
way to repaywhat God has givenme”.
